Ski Mountaineering
Skiing in nature
Go up the snowy slopes with the help of the “sealing skins”.
Isolate yourself in nature, face to face with the snow and the trace you will leave as you pass on the white blanket. The crisp air and the sound of your breath, in the middle of nowhere. You are already there, with your mind and body projected into a snowy landscape, with the sun peeking out, as you try the experience of ski mountaineering.
Ski mountaineering is an ancient sport, born even before alpine skiing, practiced by the Scandinavian populations in past centuries, as a means of moving and exploring new lands. The techniques and materials have changed, but the essence of this sport is always the same: climbing up snow-covered slopes with seal skins.
But what are seal skins? Originally natural (tanned strips of animal skin), later replaced by synthetic products, they are a fundamental tool for ski mountaineering and allow the ski not to slip backwards.
Thanks to the Ursus Adventures team, you will be able to try this fantastic experience. You won’t have to think about anything, as we will rent the necessary equipment for ski mountaineering and then we will start practicing this wonderful sport.
You will make a gentle climb with about 400 meters in altitude, followed by a mountain guide who will teach you the technique to climb the snowy slopes. Once you reach the top, you’ll take the skins off your skis, then enjoy the descent on the slopes.
What are you waiting for? Try and book our Skialp package online, which allows you to fully experience the baptism of ski mountaineering.
It is necessary to know how to descend on a red slope and to have a good physical preparation. The recommended clothing is ski clothing, with a backpack containing water and a spare T-shirt.
